Paper Collages

These are on 6″ x 6″ deep canvases in preparation for the Arvada’s Fine Art Market 2025. I have used original photography, molding paste, printing, stamping, painting and weaving techniques for these collages. Titles for these starting with the upper left: “Searching”, “Cut, Weave, Tear”, “Dots and Butterfly”, and “Notes from the Field” at the bottom in a shadow box frame. There will be spirit dolls and art quilts, also. Yes, thinking of Christmas in July!

Weaving Softness

Just finished a weaving that needed a background in order to hang it on the wall. I sewed it onto an old quilted piece after painting it with a white acrylic wash to soften the look. Let me know what you think. I have used yarn, twisted fabric, threads, rusted linen, tissue, lace and gold tulle. Added poppy seed pods, as well with an organza ribbon.

Paper Vase

The vase below began with 2 sheets of handmade paper molded on a jar. Once dry, I added artist’s bleeding tissue, paper pulp and tarlatan. I glued the two pieces together and added a base to the bottom. I also added some molding paste, a clay ornament and 3 sticks wrapped with a decorative napkin and blue thread from my sister’s collection of spools. Also, see some more paper bowls with cheesecloth, stitches and yarn added along with the wet strength artist’s paper. The yellow one with the twig is made with paper pulp molded in a bowl, yellow rose petals, thread, a wool felted “stone” and a twig dipped in wax. White yarn was dipped in matte medium to stiffen it and then adhered to the rim.

Paper Bowls

Making paper bowls with artists’ bleeding tissue paper, molds, cheesecloth, recycled dryer sheets, paint and stitch. Also coiled bowl covered with wet strength tissue, paper pulp with rose petals, coiled bowl with eco-dyed carrier sheet covering and bamboo stand.
