This is the 2nd in my Lichen series.  I have used hand painted cotton as the background, which includes stamping and brush strokes.  I have hand stitched this and pieced it with a wide blue silk border.  I have appliqued felt and painted dryer sheets to create texture.  I also couched fibers on top and machine quilted it.  The quilt is not quite finished.  I still need to put a facing type binding on it and add a hanging sleeve.  Hmm, after looking at the image of the full quilt, I need to add some more couched fibers.  Then I can finish it up.  Below, it looks a bit like cotton candy.  It is really not this pastel!

Just finished my newest quilt called “Lichen Emerging”.  It shows lots of texture on silk.  I have hand and machine stitched on eco-dyed linen, adding wool felted pieces, recycled wool sweaters, yarn and threads.  The decorative threads were couched on top of the quilted silk.

This is painted, stenciled and stamped raw canvas with brush strokes and fused silk lily pads and flowers.  Such fun to do this one!

I have been working to get some quilts completed to enter the Reflections exhibit to be held at Red Rocks Community College.  The new one is in progress called Reflections upon Reflections.

The old one is “Branching Out”.  This is a detail shot only.

Attended the Valentine Event at Aspen and Evergreen Art Gallery last night.  I had 5 quilts on display and really enjoyed talking with other artists.

I have submitted 3 art quilts to Aspen and Evergreen Gallery  in Estes Park!  They will sell my art work and split the selling price with me 50-50.  It is a beautiful gallery full of works by Colorado artists. 

You will note the leaf above is pinned on, so this was a work in progress when the photo was done.  Now I just need to sew on the hanging sleeve and deliver the piece to the gallery.

I have been working on creating a quilt using some leaves I eco-prined onto linen.  I was also trying to rust the fabric at the same time and added vinegar.  This resulted in an overall gray color.  But I did get some interesting print images with eucalyptus leaves and some tiny blossoms.

I have been working on an aspen quilt or two, using paint and stitch and some small pieces for my lichen series.  I have several pieces started, but have not finished anything over the Christmas break.  That is my next goal:  FINISH!
