Sun Printing with Turmeric

These are called anthotypes which involve mixing turmeric with rubbing alcohol (I used 70%), painting that solution on paper or fabric. Once dry, place plants on the surface and cover with glass or plexiglass and place in direct sunlight for 1 – 3 hours. Remove your masks and rinse in water mixed with baking soda or Borax. Some printed yellow and some red, depending on how much turmeric was involved. Major drawback: these will fade eventually, so take photo images you could then use as greeting cards.
